The New York Wine & Food Festival invites those who seek a serious education in the finer things in life, whether novices or aficionados, to its teaching tastings. The Festival will offer a full-day of wine seminars that bring together experts ready to share their unique knowledge and offer guests a comprehensive view of today's vin scene. Learn about the special qualities of specific wines as well as the grapes and terroir that contribute to their taste and exacting techniques that go into creating them. Vintners and principals from a variety of handpicked estates will lead the exciting range of tastings.

Session 1: The Pursuit of Excellence. Castello Banfi - Builder of Brunello and Super Tuscans (Sold Out)

Join Cristina Mariani-May, proprietor of the internationally acclaimed Castello Banfi estate, for a first-hand perspective on the vision that propelled a sleepy Tuscan backwater to its current status as a premier source of some of the world’s most treasured red wines. Share in this unique opportunity to sample rare and special gems from the Mariani family cellars, including the debut ‘97 vintage Castello Banfi Poggio alle Mura and 1990 Poggio all’Oro single vineyard Brunello Riserva.  The seminar will conclude with an informal Q&A and an open discussion about Tuscany’s most celebrated appellation.

Session 2: Mouton Rothschild, Art and Wine, a special tribute to American artists

Location: Del Posto, 85 Tenth Avenue at 16th Street
Hours: 12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Join Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, daughter of Baron Philippe de Rothschild and CheValier of the Legion d'honneur as she celebrates the American Artists lucky enough to have their artwork grace the label of this famed first growth, including Andy Warhol who's art appeared on the outstanding 1975 Vintage and John Huston who appeared on the famed 1982 Vintage.

The Baroness has been intimately involved in Chateau Mouton Rothschild since the late 1970s and will share great stories of the Chateau which has been in her family since being purchased by her great-great grandfather in 1853.

The tasting will be followed by an informal Question and Answer period.

This seminar will be introduced by Food & Wine's Executive Wine Editor, Lettie Teague.

The vertical tasting will consist of all American artists who designed a label for Château Mouton Rothschild:

Session 3: A Century of Tawny Porto with George Sandeman

Join George Sandeman, the seventh generation of the legendary House of Sandeman, for his entertaining seminar on a Century of Tawny Portos. You will sample Sandeman’s elegant, complex and versatile 10, 20, 30 and 40 Year Old Tawny Portos, as well as their Vintage Ports, and even George’s favorite cocktail. The House of Sandeman guarantees the best stocks of Aging Tawny in the Port Trade - first laid down in 1887. The tasting will be followed by an informal Q and A.

This seminar will be introduced by Food & Wine's Deputy Wine Editor, Ray Isle.

Session 4: Godiva Chocolate and Wine Pairing Hosted by Josh Wesson (Sold Out)

Location: Hotel Gansevoort, 18 Ninth Avenue btwn 13th and Gansevoort Streets
Hours: 11:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

This entertaining seminar features wine tasting basics and what to look for in a wine's structure when pairing with chocolate. An overview of various types of chocolate will be presented, including the story of how chocolate is made and an explanation on how origin and cacao type combine to give the identity or "Terroir" of chocolate.  Attendees will have an opportunity to try chocolate chips from Africa and Venezuela. Featured wines may include champagne, Pinot Gris, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Banyuls.

Session 5: Spectacular Spanish Wines Hosted by Anthony Giglio (Sold Out)
