100-Mile Brunch: Farmer Bob Cooks Brunch
Sunday, October 11, 2009

Farmer Bob works the land with passion. And – at 6 foot 3 inches – he also works up an appetite. So – for one day only – he is getting off his John Deere and coming down to the Big Apple just to share his bounty with you.

Now Farmer Bob has friends from both far and wide. But – for this special brunch – he is using only ingredients from his own Katchkie Farm, his neighbors, and other farms within a 100-mile radius of NYC. From the moment you sip your first Un-Bloody Mary to the time you scrape the bowl of your Blue Marble Ice Cream and Local Honey Comb Sundae, you will savor the luscious flavors of local food – all while supporting sustainable agriculture.

Featured dishes include:
- Katchkie Farm Eggs Benedict with Flying Pigs Bacon
- Lightning Tree Farm Cracked Wheat Pancakes
- Faicco’s Salami with Cheese Boards from 5 Spoke Creamery, Old Chatham, Sprout Creek, Dancing Cow, and Lively Run
- 100-Mile Lasagna with Home-Made Pasta from Local Grains
- Katchkie Farm Famous Pickled Vegetables: Thunder Pickles, Green Tomatoes, Beets, Carrots
- Samascott Orchard Preserved Peach and Honey Panna Cotta

On top of enjoying your meal, you will get to meet the men (and women) behind the brunch. Ask them questions. Get tips on how to best care for your rooftop herb garden. Inspire them with your own favorite recipe. Discuss why it’s so important to eat local. And – most importantly – celebrate the season’s bounty with our heroes – the farmers.

Sunday brunch will never be the same…
